- Doubler plates at gooseneck punches and air ride crossmembers over hangers
- All steel components are shot-blasted.

Crossmembers: 4” I-beams.
Floor: 1 1/8” Apitong.
Mainbeams: 25 ½” deep Fabricated I-beam, 3/8” x 5”
hi-tensile steel flanges.
King Pin: 36” location, AAR approved.
Lights: DOT 12 volt, Great Dane Ultra Seal wiring harness with metal 7-way
receptacle. Factory sealed lights. Midship marker/turn signal combination.
Mud Flaps: Great Dane low spray.
Oil Seals: Stemco.
Paint: Finest industrial quality.
Rub Rail: ¼” x 2“outside rub rail with single pipe spool
spacers.
Side Rail: 6.5 lb./ft. structural channel 6” deep.
Springs: 3-leaf, 44,000 lb. Capacity.
Stake Pockets: Outside type 3/16” material; 1 7/8” x 3 3/8”
I.D. spaced 24” on center. Four across front and five across rear.
Support Gear: GD 70 (19” travel). Two speed, narrow mount with replaceable,
cushion foot sand shoes. Roadside crank.
Suspension: Great Dane, fixed location.
Tapered Upper Coupler:
The front nine inches of the upper coupler pick-up are tapered at a 10 degree
angle, protecting both the truck powertrain and the trailer landing gear
when it is necessary to pick up or drop a loaded trailer. The interior of
the upper coupler is completely coated with a rust preventive coating after
it is welded into place, but before it is sealed by finishing construction.
Crossmembers:
4” Deep crossmembers of all aluminum or steel are standard on 16”
centers front to rear.
Optional spacing on 12” centers. Coil packages, consisting of extra
crossmembers between the mainbeams in the coil area, and additional support
for coil hauling.
Outriggers:
Heavy-duty outriggers of square tubing transfer load weight from the side
rails to the lower main beams. Lower crossmembers, between each pair of
outriggers eliminate horizontal main beam deflection.
Landing Gear:
The Great Dane Model 70 heavy-duty, two-speed landing gear is braced in
two directions plus a horizontal 3” channel crossbrace for complete
stability. The Great Dane cushion-foot sand shoe, featuring replaceable
pads, is standard. These pads absorb shock reducing vertical stresses by
as much as 50 percent.
Aluminum Outriggers:
2” square tube outriggers are securely attached to the lower mainbeam
with s4pecially designed fasteners.
Aluminum Crossmembers:
Aluminum Crossmembers pass through the steel mainbeems, and are fastened
securely.
Rub Rail:
Sturdy rub rails of steel or aluminum protect the sides and near of the
trailer from scrapes and hard bumps. Rub rails are mounted to the stake
pockets and are further reinforced with pipe spool spacers located between
the stake pockets.
